Our mission at School of Humanities is to enhance the studentsŐ cognition of the world by creating a pro-active family living atmosphere of learning in an environment of French literature, history and culture.

Our plan is to provide a small rural setting for quiet study. Create individualized study plans for continuing American high school studies in math, English and science. Enhance daily tasks and studies with numerous field studies. Offer artistic, dramatic, musical and athletic activities as fit the studentsŐ needs. Provide mentors for individual planning and support.



Courses of Study: French literature, French history and geography, advanced mathand math practicum, ecology and geology. Emphasis will be on critical analysis in all oraland written presentations.

Daily Duties: Because the mission of SOH is to create a pro-active family atmosphere, all At the school (mentors and students alike) will have daily assigned duties which will be rotated weekly: meal planning and cooking, grounds care and gardening, animal care and feeding.



Daily Routine: Morning duties/ breakfast with mentors The sciences: Ecology/ geology/ biology French language/ literature study History/ geography study

Noon duties/ lunch with mentors Math studies Round Table/ activity Evening activities/ dinner with mentors Quiet study



Field Trips: To correspond with studies (below are some examples)

The study of French authors and artists to correspond with visits to MonetŐs home in Giverney and the literary quarter of St Germain in Paris.

The study of the Celtic settlements in Brittany to correspond with trips to Carnac and the monoliths of Brittany.

The reading of stories of William the Conqueror and study of the early hierarchy of nobles to correspond with visits to Bayeux and Mont St. Michel.

The study of the Invasion of Normandy to correspond with visits to Omaha and Utah Beaches.

The study of local ecology and visits to the Moon-sur-Elle mines and to the local shorelines.
